Dato’ Ir. Haji Zaini bin Haji Ismail is a veteran civil and structural engineer with over 46 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Civil and Structural Engineering from the University of Sheffield, England, and is a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). Currently the Chief Executive Officer of Lingkaran Luar Butterworth (Penang) Sdn. Bhd., he played a leading role in the planning, design, and successful implementation of the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR), including its award winning cable-stayed bridge over Sungai Prai.

His prior career includes senior engineering and management positions with JKR, PERCON Corporation, and Projek Lintasan Kota (PROLINTAS). Dato’ Ir. Zaini also serves as Managing Director of DZI Consultants Sdn. Bhd., continuing to contribute to Malaysia’s infrastructure development through innovation and engineering excellence.
