YBhg. Datuk Akbar bin Haji Samon was appointed as the Director of the Public Complaints Bureau (BPA) under the Prime Minister’s Department in November 2024. A member of the Malaysian Administrative and Diplomatic Service since 1994, he has over three decades of experience in governance, administration, and international cooperation.

His past roles include Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP), Deputy Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, and Director of International Cooperation at the Economic Planning Unit. Datuk Akbar holds a Bachelor’s (Hons) in Quantity Surveying from the University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom, a Diploma in Public Administration from INTAN, and a Diploma in Building from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Recognized for his leadership and public service, he is a recipient of several national honors including the Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN) in 2019.
